This is Information Bulletin Number 2 It covers the road rules applying to each state and territory in relation to child restraints
Queensland has the most restrictive rules requiring all children under 16 to be restrained by appropriate child restraints or seat belts in all vehicles, regardless of the normal requirements for the fitting of seat belts to the vehicle. South Australia does not require that seat belts or child restraints to be retro fitted an has provided blanket exemption to states historic vehicles not to comply with the national rules provided the vehicle was manufactured before the ADR's required seat belts. The rest of Australia requires all children under 7 to be restrained in appropriate child restraints while travelling in any car. |
